Opening RAW files in Snapseed for Windows

Snapseed uses Microsoft’s Windows Imaging Component to open RAW files. The Windows Imaging Component, sometimes referred to as WIC, enables camera vendors to create special drivers called codecs that ensure the highest possible quality for rendering RAW files. Often, these codecs come pre-installed with your operating system. For newer cameras however, those codecs may not yet have been included. In this case, Snapseed will not be able to open an image, and will require that you download and install the latest codec for the Windows Imaging Component into your operating system.

The Microsoft Camera Codec Pack will cover the majority of camera models and RAW files for your system:

If your camera model is not supported by the Microsoft Camera Codec Pack, please download the RAW codec for your specific manufacturer. Please be sure to install the proper codec for your operating system:

After you have downloaded and installed the latest codec, you may need to restart your system to ensure that Snapseed can open and render your RAW files.

Opening RAW files in Snapseed for Mac

Snapseed uses the built-in RAW development capabilities found in the Mac OS. If you are unable to open one of your RAW files, try running Software Update to see if there are any new RAW compatibility updates that you can install to your system.
