Auto Correct

The Auto Correct filter automatically determines how to enhance your image optimally while allowing you to fine-tune the enhancement. The filter removes unwanted colorcasts when possible and improves contrast. Auto Correct analyzes each image individually and applies a unique enhancement.

Auto Correct enables you to adjust color and contrast. Each control is based on the specific needs of the image.

Contrast Correction
Swiping increases the contrast added to your image. The maximum amount of contrast that can be added is calculated based on the image’s characteristics, ensuring that highlight and shadow detail are not lost in the process. To reduce the amount of contrast added, swipe left. A value of 0 adds no Contrast Correction to the image.
Color Correction
Swipe right to further remove the colorcast identified by the Auto Correct filter. Swiping left will return the original colors of the image. A value of 0 will not change the color of the image.

Selective Adjust

Selective Adjust introduces Nik Software’s award-winning, patented U Point technology to the iPad. U Point technology makes it possible to simply point and selectively enhance objects, without the normal time-consuming and complicated tools required to make selections. With nothing more than your finger, you can make incredibly precise selections in seconds.

Selective Adjust uses Control Points, making it possible to simply tap on an object in a photo and selectively adjust the color and distribution of light (or tonality) in an image.
To use a Control Point:
1. Tap on the Add button.

2. Tap on the object or area that you want to enhance. A control point will be placed where you tap. Move the control point at any time by dragging the control point.

3. After adding a Control Point, swiping left or right will darken or lighten the object you selected.

3-a. To increase the area affected, use two fingers to make a zoom gesture and pinch out. This will increase the reach of the control point. Increasing the reach causes the Control Point to look for similar enhancements needed farther and farther away from where the Control Point is placed. While adjusting the reach, a circle is shown describing the range of the Control Point. While this is shown as a circle, the effect will only be applied to objects that are similar to the object selected by the Control Point. To reduce the reach of the control point, make an inward pinch gesture.

The red overlay that is shown on your image while using the pinch and zoom gestures shows where the control point is affecting the image.

4. To adjust the selected object’s contrast or saturation, swipe your finger up or down.

Add additional Control Points until you have created the desired enhancement.

Control points can also be reset, cut, copied, and deleted. Copied control points can also be pasted to different parts of the image. To bring up the menu for a control point, tap on the control point once and select Reset, Cut, Copy or Delete. To paste a control point that was already copied, tap once on an area that does not include a control point and select Paste.

Tune Image

The Tune Image filter is the perfect enhancement to improve the tonality, or distribution of light, and overall appearance of any image.

Available Controls:

Brightness
Swiping to the right brightens the photo, while swiping to the left darkens it.
Ambiance
The Ambiance control is a special type of contrast that controls the balance of light in a photo. It can be used to balance backlit photos or to accentuate contrasts throughout your photo. Swipe right for photos where the subject is darker than the background. Swipe left to increase the contrast of dark objects and create a slight glow around darker objects. This is especially helpful in photos that are slightly flat.
Contrast
Swiping to the right increases the contrast, while swiping to the left reduces the contrast.
Saturation
Swiping to the right increases saturation, or vibrancy, of the colors. Swiping to the left decreases saturation. A value of -100 will result in a photo completely without color.
White Balance
Use the White Balance control to adjust the color balance of the image. This is helpful if the image was shot in a difficult lighting situation. Moving the control to the left will cool the image, making it bluer and less orange. Moving to the right will warm the image, making it more orange and less blue. At the extreme ends of the control are the ability to correct for fluorescent and other more extreme colorcasts.

Straighten & Rotate

The Straighten & Rotate filter makes it possible to straighten a photo with an uneven horizon or to rotate a photo 90° left or right.

Available Controls:

Straighten
Swipe directly on screen to straighten a photo by +/- 10°.
Rotate Left and Rotate Right
These controls rotate your photo by 90° either counter-clockwise or clockwise.

Crop

The Crop filter makes it possible to re-compose a photo. Use the crop filter to remove distractions from an image and ensure the subject is the main focal point.
Drag any edge or corner to change the crop rectangle. Use a pinch or zoom gesture to adjust the crop rectangle while keeping the same aspect ratio. Pressing Apply will process the crop, removing the areas outside of the crop rectangle. Popular crop aspect ratios are available. Select from:

Free–the aspect ratio can be set freely, without constraint
Original–the aspect ratio will be set based on the original image
1:1–to create a square image
DIN–to set the aspect ratio according to European page aspect ratios (such as A4, A3, A2, etc.)
3:2–to set the aspect ratio to what is typically found on D-SLRs
4:3–to set the aspect ratio to what is typically found on DSCs
5:4–to set the aspect ratio to what is found on many typical US page sizes (8×10, 16×20, etc.)
7:5–to set the aspect ratio for 5×7 prints
16:9–to set the aspect ratio to the aspect ratio of most HDTVs

Tap the Rotate button to rotate the crop rectangle.

The Details filter enables you to enhance the details and improve the sharpness of your photo.
